Tongue – Twisters

ANOTHER : Betty Botter bought a bit of butter

AND ANOTHER: Nine nice night nurse

Romans 7 :15’s tongue-twister manifests itself, utters and speaks from a deep place of emotional and spiritual contemplation.

The butter Betty Botter bought was a bit bitter and made her batter bitter. But a bit of better butter makes better batter. So Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter making Betty Botter’s bitter batter better.

In meditative turmoil like that, the back and forth, weighing the pros and cons, the giving and the taking, the jumbled up contrasts neatly revealed in this mind-blowing tongue-twister is an exhibit that God’s greatest champions are only human. The Apostle Paul wasn’t the greatest orator but he was a prolific man of the letter, this is why he could accurately describe his mixed up spiritual and emotional life so crystal clear.

It is human, we want to love, we want to do good – and then something happens.

In the midst of our turmoil may we find peace and forgiveness.
