Youthfulness

March 31, 2021

It is the perennial youthfulness of mathematics itself which marks it off with a disconcerting immortality from the other sciences. – Eric Temple Bell

There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of the people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age. – Sophia Loren

  1. The quotes are fantastic. Love the deep philosophy in the “youthfulness of mathematics” juxtaposed with its immortality among the sciences. Wow! What an idea to ponder!!
Sophia is a legend and a star. Her words are so powerful.
Your poem a regal setting of the queen (rose) reigning on her throne of thorns.. thorns never sounded so pleasing as when it bedecks her throne. Fabulous post, Abi.

    • Yes, a mathematician would really appreciate the compliment to the science, evergreen and ever sprouting…branching out, all-engaging I think.
Yes Sophie is a grand dame. She embraced life and her art in the most amazing ways. One gets the feeling Providence never left her side.
Thank you Suzette, I appreciate the poet guides, like angels they come alongside. You are kind.
